star warz, john williams; soundtrack appreciation day
stumbled onto this video today and it reminded me of how awesome soundtracks are courtesy of john williams and possibly the best movie score of all time, that of star wars.
here are some of my favorites from my library.
John Powell – Berlin Foot Chase (from The Bourne Supremacy)
The Dope Smugglaz – The Word (PMT Remix) (from Swordfish)
John Murphy – Go Go Go (from 28 Weeks Later)
gotta slow down on giving away all these songs, gonna have nothing to post about in a week or so
glitch mob; eeeedddddIIIIITTTT, boreta
snagged the new glitch mob album, drink the sea. its a lot calmer than most of the stuff ive heard from them, marked difference from their onstage persona. kinda a mellow dnb/dubstep record i guess. im enjoying it. quick sample below, after this sick album cover.
The Glitch Mob – Between Two Points feat. Swan
these next two are more typical glitch mob. i only have a little 2 song EP from Boreta but edIT has put out at least 2 full albums. edIT’s “Crying Over Pros For No Reason” has the same feel as Drink the Sea, maybe his influence that pushed them in that direction. he always seemed like the quasi leader of the group. enough talk.

hope charley doesnt notice me stealing his upload space…
beardyman, real passion (dub fx)
first up, beardyman. 2x UK beatbox champ, deus ex barba(god out of beard rofl latin roolz). some comedy festival, i enjoyed the whole thing but i know youre impatient soooooo the best parts are probably the beginning, @6:00ish (disco gypsy fish), @23:00 is the aphex twin, @39:00, but if you watch nothing else start @26:20 or so; stevie wonder meets dubstep, fucking goosebumps every time.
listened to this all day at work, this guys got some amazing talent, assuming these really are just off the top of his head.
nexxxxt.
same ideas at work here, these guys push loop machines to the absolute limit. what i love about dub fx is the passion as hes singing. his whole life is traveling the world with his “flower fairy” (fiance/gf/merchpusher extraordinaire), setting up on the street and singing to anyone who will listen.
Download Love Someone here (album version)
another from the album below
the live versions are pretty much always better, but i guess you cant take youtube with you wherever you go
DONNIS – Diary of an ATL Brave
Chances are any posts on here about hip hop will be few and far between. Not to say that I don’t listen to hip hop, but the blog markets definitely skewed towards that end of the musical spectrum. When was the last time you read about a new breakcore song on a blog? But i guess this is what that’s about, broadening musical horizons, or some equally cliche shit. Won’t be long before you need Adderall to listen to anything slower than 150bpm, thanks society.
Anyway…
I honestly hate trying to write about music. Do you really care that 10.Deep is the same company that put out Kid Cudi’s original mixtape? Or that they sell hoodies for $100, fuck they are awesome. You really shouldn’t, I don’t think you need any background information to make a judgement on how good a song is. It’s kinda like their motto, “forget everyone and listen to yourself. Strength lies in the hands of an individual (10 fingers), not in the approval of one’s peers.“
or if you arent convinced, like these songs because i tell you to, sheep
the whole album is good, DONNIS is the next kid cudi, blah, blah, blah
/\/\ /\ Y /\ – not paper planes – M.I.A.

not paper planes
so i guess people like reading about the music they’re listening to. i’m still waiting on onomatopoeias to catch up to the world that synths have created, then i’ll get a little more excited about trying to put a 128bpm 55 hz tone into words.
for now, enjoy this MIA from her new album /\/\ /\ Y /\ (MAYA) i just snagged off the what. really pleasantly surprising.
produced by rusko, one of dubstep’s grandparents, basically. i could care less who’s rapping(attempting) over this track, chainsaws and bass, what more do you want?
rub a fucking dub.
rusko all over this one again.
you tweeting me like tweety all over your iphone? fuck yeah twitter shoutouts
